Journal Entry:
"Bonjour, il plent." Well that's about the best I can do. We are in France - Paris. I have no ideas where in Paris. I cannot see the Eiffel Tower so I guess we aren't in it's vicinity. Trudie has been unwell this morning and for the rest of the day also.We have just had a French doctor in to check her out and he has prescribed her some items which I have picked up from the pharmacy. It seems she has a bad case of gastroenteritis which wasn't helped by the ferry from Dover today. She is having a sleep now. (8:30pm, Paris time) and I'm sitting down in the lobby having a beer. The beer incidentally was EU6.40! But that's Europe! Contiki people all seem friendly. Lots of Aussies, few Canadians, half dozen Americans, another kiwi & us. Tour manager is a kiwi & driver is an Aussie which is nice. Better fill in the missing days.

The 11th was a day on the town. The Tower of London was the highlight for me. The history was incredible. Just amazing being somewhere that knights had been, kings had lied and hangings had taken place. Hop-on hop-off bus was good. Saw the other sights - Westminster abby was another highlight for the day. Awesome history here too. Tombs and tributes to many famous people and others. Most are actually buried there!
The 12th was a bit slack but we did go out with our friends the night before. We saw the British Museum which was good but we were short of time for a good look. Met Spencer & Martin for lunch. Visited the Mac shop which was flash and busy - maybe Macs aren't too bad after all.
Back to now - communicatio with the French isn't too easy - hello, thanks and not much else is about the extent of my communication skills. I like it though, would like to learn more. Being here makes it so much more real. I might stroll down the road to see what I can see... ...Not alot - people with dogs, many dark people compared with Dunedin. Back in our (closet-sized) room now watching Stargate in French, too confusing to have the sound on. Trudie is still sleeping but seems better. -Ben
History:
Founded on the island where a natural north-south highway crosses the Seine River, some 233 miles (375 kilometres) upstream from the river mouth on the English Channel, Paris, the largest city proper of continental Europe and the capital of France, is over 2,000 years old.

Arc de Triomphe (Place of many crashes...)
. After we arrived on the 10th we caught the tube to Jenny's house (I needed a piss all the way) it took 1.5 hours. Sleep was the top priority (after a pee). Kyra had met us at the airport and we had a beer. The 11th was a day on the town. The Tower of London was the highlight for me. The history was incredible.
