I have been to different parts of DR like 15 times. I LOVE the people there, in fact I married a fantastic Dominican woman. I recently learned of a real racist policy the government there has for Americans. If my wife books a room, as a Dominican, she pays one price. If I book the room, I pay a little over double. Extra taxes they say. The government should be happy with you having to purchase a "tourist card". One hotel, in Juan Dolio, Coral Caribbe, will not even let me book as an American. I love the people, there are none more friendly, but the government is corrupt and very racist. I will not be going back, there are countries in the Caribbean who actually still LIKE Americans.
