Our next stop is Quy Nhon, a quiet coastal town. Our hotel in Hoi An organized for someone to drive us there. It was as cheap to do it this way as it is to go on the train so we took advantage of the door to door service. The 5 hour journey was uneventful apart from me waking myself up, and scaring Ben and the driver, with a massive snore! Oh yeah and towards the end we were able to listen to the best mix CD ever- the driver's of course. Songs included Britney's 'Hit me Baby One More Time' twice in a row. Some Status Quo, covered by a rubbish American country band, Backstreet Boys and Celine Dion! After my mimed rendition of 'My heart will go on' to Ben, he finally snapped and I was given extreme double noogies!
Anyway, after speaking to other people we decided to aim high and try to stay in one of the posh resorts for a few days. We had been told that as it is low season the hotels give you good deals. They weren't wrong! We are currently staying in a Dutch owned place called the 'Life Resort' it is beautiful and best of all- almost empty. It has a private beach and an amazing infinity pool that over looks the sea. It is seriously plush. The room (which is the basic one!) is amazing, please see pictures, we have a massive balcony that overlooks the beach and the sea. We negotiated a brilliant deal- we have paid less than half price for our room each night including breakfast, which fills us up until dinner, some free Spa treatments and free transfers to the airport! The weather has been great and we have had a really relaxing time, lots of swimming and sea kayaking. Ben has now learned how to tread water after admitting he didn't know how to! I was shocked and scared that he lacked this fundamental survival skill and he has now been sufficiently trained and sea kayaking has resumed.
Our next stop is Saigon. We are flying there (24.9.07-8:25am) as the flight cost 22 pounds each including tax and we will stay there for a couple of nights in a hostel and then it's off to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. We are also flying there (26.9.07- 14.15) as it is cheap and saves lots of time. Take care and we'll be in touch soon. Love Nic and Ben xxxxx More thumbnails ...
