After several flights back to the US, we caught up with family and friends and had a little time to take in the beauty of the summer in the Northwest. It's hard to explain how awesome Seattle and area can be in summer and after this round of travels, we were stoked to be home for a short while.  We both volunteered on separate Big City Mountaineers courses in Olympic National Park.  Lindsey took the camera and captured some great moments with her group of at-risk females on their first-ever backpacking trip.

Spirits rose on Summit Day as the teens pushed themselves and learned just what they were capa ble of!

Of course, a trip home to the Pacific Northwest wouldn’t be complete for a pair of climbers like us without a visit to Index! Only an hour's drive from the city, we couldn't resist an opportunity to sleep in our new mobile home too!GOPR0468Lindsey making the final traverse moves on Godzilla, a classic warm-up at Index!

Seattle's culture is so awesome as well. We couldn't pass up a couple nights of getting together with old friends. Our friends, Dave and Carrie, held a BBQ block party at their new, and stunning, home in Columbia City...and we're pretty sure we crashed it. :)

We have now moved into our Sprinter van and are on the road in the Eastern Sierra.  Our first stop was South Lake Tahoe, where we met up with our Finnish friend, Sara, who moved to Lake Tahoe from Leavenworth.  Unstable weather in the mountains kept us to closer roadside cragging, but what fun it was!  The granite around Lake Tahoe is impeccable and there are so many areas to explore.

With our road trip in full swing, stay tuned to see our next post on the Sierras, coming soon! Miss you all!!
