We weren't bowled over by this place. Like Yangshuo, Halong Bay and Krabbi, this town is surrounded by limestone peaks and the Nam Song river flows through. The town though is a bit scruffy with a few seedy characters lurking about. We love the double standards out here: go into nearly any restuarant and if you make your meal a 'Happy' one it means it will have a liberal sprinkling of cannabis on, however get caught with a joint and you're looking at a $500 bribe to the local police. Ben went tubing down the Nam Song though which was a top way to spend half a day but there's nothing much else to stay around for here, still it breaks the journey up a bit before we head off to our next destination, the capital city of Vientiane.
