A hill station a couple of hours from Mumbai, at an elevation of eight hundred metres, we had a great climate for walking and once again horse riding. There are no vehicles allowed in Matheran - it's illegal - and so this 'jungle topped' village is pollution free, both of fumes and noise. Horse riding was Fun, Fun, Fun, and Ben got up to a fine speed on his ten year old nag, though Cally had a free-spirited three year old race horse which had to be held back a lot. Ben finally began to get the hang of the rising trot and consequently didn't finish with a sore bottom. The scenery here is stunning and it was worth the trek up hill to get here from the car park two-and-a-half kilometres away: sadly the toy train from Neral Junction was not running. Next stop is Mumbai which is going to seem like a different world to where we are now.
