Full Mooning

Arrived in Ko Pha Ngan with my fellow boatee's, and we got a nice cheap guest house quickly and easily, seemingly too easily. Had a shower, got my bearings and chilled out on the beach for the first day.
The island itself is a lovely place, i seem to have fallen in love with it. Its evidently not as beautiful as some of the other Thai islands, and the overcharging found on the islands in general is prevalent here too, but i like it. The small winding streets give it a nice relaxing feel, and from the bus ride to Haad rin it seems that there is actually quite a bit to see around the island. Whats more, i even found a few places that sell reasonably priced fruit, a must for me!
Generally i had a very lazy time here, relaxing or sleeping during the day before going out 'partying' at night. First night out was to coral bungalows pool party, which consisted of the necessary requirements of any Ko Phan Ngan party:- water, many drunken people and most importantly the famed alcohol buckets. For anyone not familiar with these, they consist of a small bucket, like those kids use to make sandcastles, into which a full bottle of alcohol, a bit of red bull and a bit of a mixer are added, with ice. Being a lightweight one of these did me fine for the night, but i had a relatively early one and was home by 3am. Followed this up the next day very lazily, watching 3 films in a row in one of the cafes in town, again not renting a motorbike to see the island like i had planned (anyone coming to this island, I'd strongly recommend doing this asap, before you end up sleeping all day, every day). Came back to the guest house to see a party was going around the fire on the beach, with amazing homemade buckets (absolute peach vodka and sprite). I overdid it and had to go back to my room to sleep whilst the others went into town to party. However i was too drunk to read the combination lock on my door, so after about 15 mins of fumbling with it, i passed out sitting up in the plastic chair outside my room, only to be woken up by my roommate at 7am when he came home.
Subsequently i felt shitty for the whole day and night of the full moon, and didn't actually drink at all for the whole experience. Despite this i still had a wicked time. The full moon party starts probably as early as 5pm for some, and goes onto about 10am the next day, at which point the after party starts. It is mainly centered on the beach, where several beach front bars spill out onto the beach with their sound systems blaring out their music of choice. Bucket and food stalls set up all along the beach and it is generally rife with people absolutely plastered, dancing around all night. Of course all the bars throughout the town continue the party too, but its main focus is definately the beach. Bumped into several people I'd met in other towns during my travels, which was very cool. I also bumped into a large number of people who made me truly ashamed to be English, so now if anyone asks I'm Zambian (thanks Helmi for the suggestion). My highlights were chilling out laying on the beach at 3am listening to relaxing reggae tunes, and watching the sunrise with friends. Got back to the bungalows at 10am. Had the usual lazy recovery day watching hot shots 1 and 2 in the guest house bar. Left the next day for Krabi
