Mui Ne is supposedly a beach holiday town, popular with the Vietnamese. Its basically a very long stretch of road lined by guest houses and restaurants, with the beach on one side and nothing on the other. The guide  books describe it as a really nice secluded beach backed by palm trees. However i just felt like i was stuck at my guest house in the middle of nowhere, and the beach was filthy, with more stuff floating in the water than in the sea at bognor  regis(I wasn't to keen on Mui Ne, that may come across in this episode).
What there is to see is Mui Ne, i.e its main draw card, is the sand dunes, so after arriving, i booked myself on a tour of these, taking in the red, yellow and white dunes, the red canyon and the 'fairy stream'. Looking back on it, i don't know how i convinced myself that Mui Ne was worth visiting, i mean I'd just been to Nha Trang, a really nice beach in 'a happening town', and anyone who did A level Biology knows how boring a sand dune is, its just a big lump of sand! Though i did see several different coloured lumps of sand. Sand sledding was basically sliding down the dune on a piece of plastic, and  it was one of those activities you sort of feel you have to do because your there, but wasn't really worth it. You end up sliding down making noises like 'weeeeee' or doing that pretend laugh you do when you trying to enjoy a ride even though its crap. So thats sand sledding for ya! The red canyon was cool though, what i can only imagine walking inside a tiny tiny tiny tiny version of the grand canyon would be like, with powdery towering red rock faces either side of you. Best part of the tour was the end, where my guide gave me 12 mango's! Bargain.
Next morning i chilled out at the guest house waiting for my bus to Saigon, and there was a Vietnamese family also chilling out there. The father was a lawyer from Saigon and they were there on holiday (bad choice of place i say). I know all this because, as usual for the Vietnamese, he invited me to come and drink tiger beer with his family, and even gave me his address in Saigon, i guess in case i wanted to visit. I think he wanted to fix me up with his but ugly, rude daughter, Tina (I'm not into looks i like to think, but she was literally butt ugly).
Got on my bus to Saigon, a non stopper i was told, which then drove 20 m down the beach front and stopped. 'right ladies and gentlemen, we stop here for about 20 mins for lunch before we go to Saigon' Thank god for that, after that long bus ride i was desperate for a break!
Anyway, arrived in Saigon that evening.
