So here we are on our last night in the beer capital of Germany!
(which considering the competion is pretty impressive!)

As u probably know we didn,t have accommodation when we arrived so we wandered down the main hostel street when we got here and managed to get accom in a 40 person dorm.
And yes it is just as scary as it sounds!
Not that bad, it is very clean and surprisingly quiet, i think everyone is too scared to make too much noise!

Muncih is absolutely great! The vibe here is fantastic, very young and active, plus everyone speaks english which is a great help as you all kno my German is non existant!

We went (to my shame) on a pub crawl the first night (don't worry mum, we didn't get too drunk:) but it was a great way too meet people and get a feel for the city. It also led us to the free tour the next day which was great too. I didn't realize so much of Munich had been destroyed during the second world war--so much of the building is reconstruction. But it has all been done so well and so carefully.

We also went up the mountains to the Cinderella castle--i can't for the life of me pronounce the german! and it was beautiful. Wonderful setting and the most insane mix of bavarian, byzantine and medieval architecture inside. Truly worth a visit. Plus we got this all day ticket, the bayern ticket which gives you train and bus there and back for peanuts.
Although a word of is an actual mountain so bring comfortable shoes. All that exercise was working off the beer and pretzels i have been living off!

We are off again tomorrow, this time to Berlin, the original party capital--so we are told. I will just be glad to be sleeping in a room with less than thrity guys!

One last fun thing..last night at about 4am the fire alarm went off. All the guests had to trek out to the street in our pjs in the freezing cold! It is colder here at the moment than Sydney!!! There were firemen which mollified me somewhat but everyone was pretty unimpressed! apparently two Spanish guys were smoking in the dorm and set it off. But they got their's 1000 euro fine.

I just hope the weather will be better in Berlin.....but I'm not betting on it!

love ya!
