So the morning started with a bang ... but as we had a flight to catch, we quickly packed up and went on our merry way. Our flight was at 5pm, but as the hostel was hot, stuffy and generally not great, we decided to make our way to the airport early and wait it out there.
Our original plan was to take a taxi to the Albrook Mall bus terminal where we would take a bus ... but when we got in the taxi and managed to barter for a $15 taxi to the airport, reduced from $30 we decided this was a much safer plan with all the gear, so sat back and enjoyed the ride. As we headed to the airport we passed the huge development taking place on the Panama shoreline, there are huge amounts of apartments being built, most of which the taxi driver told us was linked to the plans to extend the Canals capacity.
Arriving at the airport we headed to check in, only to be told that we could not do so for another couple of hours so we chilled out in what looked like the staff canteen, had some lunch and wrote some blogs.
Our flight to Bogota was on time at 5pm and the first flight with Avianca was great, a nice surprise after so many cheap airline flights in the past. On arrival in Bogota we flew through the connections, only to have to wait for ages for our second flight at 9pm which would take us to Sao Paulo.
Eventually we got moving just after 10pm hoping we could sleep a little during the night. Chris tried to go straight to sleep but only managed about an hour – in this time he missed dinner, but no fear Annabelle ordered him a glass of red wine and swiftly consumed it as he snored away!
Then the child from hell made herself present ... by screaming – a lot! This put an end to any potential sleep ... we were not impressed! All in all not a great night flight!
