This morning we were woken up by a phone call ... was it Uncle Len? No it was Kimmy.  She had been listening to Dusty Springfield and thought of her little Annasmell.  After a quick chat she went off to eat some of her vegetables (which she described in detail on the phone call – she's clearly missing the human contact at home) and Annabelle quickly dialled Len and managed to catch him ... and what a man!! He’s said we could stay until the 11th October, which was such a relief!  So our 10 day road trip has been condensed to a 4 day trip, meaning we get 4 days by the pool before leaving for Cancun.  Brilliant!

Our first destination on our whistle stop tour of the South was Baton Rouge in Louisiana, a mere 700 miles away estimated to take a cool 10 hours.  So today was going to be a driving day.  Annabelle had been trying to get in contact with Liana for the past week and this morning she finally managed to pin her down and have an hour catch up with her, which was a lovely way to start the day.

Then it was into the car for the longest day of the trip so far.  To be fair, with Chris driving and Annabelle providing entertainment the journey really wasn’t as bad as either of us expected.  Considering we have been together pretty much 24/7 for over 3 months we still managed to find things to talk about.  And in 10 hours we covered a wide range of topics from where we’ll live when we get back (hello kimmy, hello bobby) to what instruments we would like our children to learn.  Annabelle also initiated some car games which included the shopping alphabet game, the alphabet girls name and boys name and the Radio 1 famous name game.  Those provided a good hour of laughing, and debate whether xylophone was a girls name.  It was also the first time Chris got to hear Annabelle’s America Road Trip playlist she created  precisely for a journey of this magnitude.  So  we had a good few hours singing along with Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Queen to name a few.   We left Tavares at 10.30am and arrived in Port Allen (just West of Baton Rouge) at  9.20pm (after gaining an hour when we passed through a time zone) so needless to say we were rather tired.
