Annabelle played volleyball in a 9 person per team game – it was Team Extreme v's Team Awesome ... Annabelle’s team lived up to its name and played an extreme match, winning 3 games to 2 (but she doesn’t like to gloat, so we won’t mention the glory laps and team jumping & screaming). The Americans then tried to introduce Baseball ... all we can conclude is that it is a backwards version of Rounders, it seems to have no logic and is more complicated than it needs to be. Needless to say the Europeans soon got bored of Baseball and commandeered the bat and ball to start a very exciting game of Rounders
In the park there was a man-made lake that was great to cool off in. So after lunch, everyone jumped in and had great fun playing girls v boys 'netball’ and ‘piggy in the middle’. We then played British Bulldog – for those of you that didn’t play this is the school playground, it’s when you have a group of people on one side of and area, with the aim of crossing to the other side. The ‘bulldog’ is in the middle and has to tag people. These people then become bulldogs, and this continues until everyone has been tagged. There were about 28 of us playing – and we got down to the final 5. Clearly we were never going to get through the 23 bulldogs in the middle of the lake, so Annabelle came up with a plan. We all slowly moved to the edge of the lake, and on the count of 5, instead of swimming forward we scrambled out and ran around the edge – the bulldogs were so slow at reacting we were able to get in at the other side, therefore winning the game. It was really good fun.
We eventually packed up the us and headed to a local town for our first laundry stop. This doesn’t sound like a particularly exciting or necessary event, but it was both. Bearing in mind there are 36 people on this bus, it’s generally in the mid 90’s and are only able to wash every 2-3 days ..
We then had a quick drink in a local bar which was a true slice of Americana and managed to get a spot on the back platform of the bus meaning we got a great night’s sleep!!
