We arrived in Olbia and found our way down the narrow shipping chanel dodging the massive pssenger ferries. This is a major port where ferries take people and cargo across to Rome.
There is a free stone jetty where yachties can tie up. This is right near town and very convenient.
We spent 2 night here and explored the town. Quite a nice little town with main street full of shops, cafes and restaurants. We had a fun night out with Pete's sister Alison and enjoyed a traditional 4 course Sardinian meal while watching people wandering up and down the main street. It was quite amazing how busy the town gets after 7pm. I'm sure everyone comes out either to shop, eat or just walk the street, having the occasional gelato or coffee.
The culture is very different to home. People don't go home after work and have a meal and watch TV. They head out for a drink or meal most nights. All their shops are open until late and its very social.
After restocking with food and refuelling we headed off to drop Ali in Rome for her flight home. This was an overnight sail and the weather was looking good.
