Flag of Spain and Canary Islands  , Balearic Islands,
Sunday, August 17, 2008

The sail from Palma to Soller was very pleasant as we passed saphire coloured bay after bay filled with huge mansions. Some very traditional Spanish (which I like) others look like they are out of the cartoon the Jetson's (which I don't Like) but there is a heck of a lot of them and we wonder who owns all of them....

We arrive at the marina in the Port of Soller and it looks like something out of the 60's, it's so idyllic with the cafes that surround the port and little white dinghies floating in the harbour. Most of the buildings are built out of stone as is most of the island and look like they've been here for centuries even if they haven't.  I can see why the ex Mr Christopher Skase decided to exile himself here, it's so beautiful.

Its now 8pm and we are tied up at the marina in what we thought would be quieter than in Palma. In the last 1/2 hr there have been 10 mega yachts tie up and once again we are dwarfed. The bar directly at our bow (they tie up either stern or bow in) has just started up its music and I imagine all the people off the boats will start to wander over for drinks. So much for my nice quiet very quaint port. But then again I can sleep thru anything...

Well almost anything, by 2am I'm ready to yell out the hatch to shut up but fortunately for them they picked that moment to be quiet. My god these Spanish can party.....
