Days 9 and 10

Day 8
Yesterday we had to get up really early to catch Interbus to go from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio. We were the last people to get on the bus so we couldnt set by each other, which made the ride even more boring. Luckily, I was beside two american girls, and Katherine was stuck beside two English honeymooners who couldn't keep their hands off of each other. After a 3.5 hour bus ride we finally made it to MA. At first we thought our hostel was really sketchy, but it had a nice view of the ocean. We dumped our stuff off and headed for the beach. Not really sure where we were going or how to even get there we headed up the windy road to the bus stop. And there we waited for a while before the bus came, for both of us to ride the bus it was less than 1$. The beach we went to was the Manuel Antonio public beach, which turned out to be really nice. And lots of hot Ticos. The water was actually warm, but you had to be really careful because of the undertoe, but the beach had lifeguards. We actually got to see the lifeguards rescue two drunk tourists who had gotten pulled out a little ways by the rip tide. After that we ate at a little resturant that is literally on the beach. We only layed out for a few hours and returned back to our hostel and hung out on the hammock terrace for a while. We also saw this huge, seriously like 3 foot long, iguana hanging out in a tree and two random goats. And we also watched the sunset, before going inside to watch a movie. It has turned out to be another good hostel, and the owners son Conrad has turned out to be really helpful. There are even two cute dogs, one is a black pekenese-poodle mix named Choley, and the other is a white purebread malteese named Miga.
Day 9
Today we slept in until 9 and got ready to go the the Manuel Antonio National park, which had some of the most picturesque beaches in the world, and I have about 50 photos to prove it. So we had to take the bus, again. Which we weren't to thrilled about becuase its always crowded. So we got of the bus not really sure where this natonal park was because of the lack of signs. But the nice Ticos pointed us in the right direction. On the path to the park, Katherine banged her toe on a huge rock and split it open. So we ended up stopping at a little resturant across from the entrance to set for a minute, and one of the guys was nice enough to give her a bandaid and even had some rubbing alcohol to pour on it. So after setting around for about 20 minutes we decided to go on to the park. After paying 10 each to get in, we headed off through the forest to the beaches. The beaches are really different here because its not your Florida white sandy beaches that are wide. No, there is trees that pretty much go out to the water. Also, we were told to watch out for the monkeys because they would steal your stuff. However, at the first beach we didn't see anything. So we stayed there for about an hour, taking turns getting in the water because we didn't want to leave our stuff. So we headed off to the next beach, which you had to go down a tiny path to get to. There we saw the monkeys. There were little black monkeys that were really cute with white faces hanging out in the trees. There was even a mommy monkey with a baby on her back. At the next beach we finally found a place, and there were less people there so we doused the sand with bug spray and started to lay out when we had our first visitor. A huge iguana, who was chasing another iguana. One of them was crazy looking like a prehistoric dinosaur. We had already seen probably 50 or so small lizards on the paths to the beach, but none were over a foot long. So after a while we had our second visitor, a raccoon. Who was not scared of people at all and he came about a foot from katherine until we grabbed our bag of food and ran out towards the water. Since our stuff was more safe on this beach we both ventured out into the water, until we realized there was a really bad undertoe and I about had my leg taken off by a log, and now I have a nice little scrape. We were able to lay out for about an hour or two there before we got tired of being hot and decided to go back. On our way back we saw a slough, with a baby one on her stomach just hanging upside down from the tree. We also had a 6 foot long posionous snake cross the path infront of us. That payed no attention to the 8 people that were around it, just crossed the path taking its time. Outside of the park there are TONS of vendors, selling all kinds of things. So we ventured around there. Before making our way back to the hostel. I think tonight we are going to get dressed up and go out to eat. Tomorrow we are going to go snorkling near an island, and probably be beach bums again.
