My journey started in Bangkok on Khao San Road. I am a people-watcher so this was just THE place to be! We perused the street vendors, ALMOST braved the deep-fried scorpion but juuust couldn't do it, and took advantage of the massages! A trip to the Floating Market was interesting and provided some incredible pictures. The only day it rained was the day we toured the Grand Palace and Wat Po. Even in the rain these two places are just incredible.
Then it was off to Ko Pha-Ngan and CHICKEN CORNER! If you've been to Haad Rin then you know what I'm talking about! Mr. K. Chicken Corner, right next to Mr. K. Crepe. It's the food stand right across from Mama Schnitzel's. You head down to the beach from this crossroads. Mr. K. Chicken was some of the best chicken my friends ever had. It tops Taco Cabana and Whataburger on the "I'm drunk and need something to eat" scale of tasty goodness.
Now, I know all about the Full Moon Paries, which we missed this time around, but we had an absolute blast during Saturday night's regular beach party. Between the fire throwers, "drink buckets" and my favorite music, I had the time of my life! It was one of those nights where you have an amazing time and laugh your butt off - but, since you didn't expect any of it to happen, it's even better.
A visit to Ang Thong National Marine Park was fun- though the stairs to see the lake from "The Beach" were not so much fun. They're basically vertical. Plus, the time spent on the boat to and from the park left the "I'm on a boat" feeling for days.
I would recommend Thailand to anyone- it's cheap and pretty fun. Just don't drink the water.
