! But as i calmed down it was quite easy going. And then the coral started appearing. It wasnt like i expected, looked almost like big toadstools just sat on the floor. It was quite good at the cliff edge coz u could see all sorts of things coming off the wall of rock. And the fish, every colour u can imagine, really vivid colours, and swimming through the shoals of tiny fish was cool. I saw quite a few long skinny fish, looked almost like pencils, with a snout. Cant remember what they were called, anyone? Moving along the coastline, after i had become a bit more confident and didnt feel the need to tag along to the others, i was quite lucky coz i saw a group of brown squid. There was about 10 of them in a line just quite happily moving along. Fascinating things tho coz around their body they have a thin continuous fin which ripples for propulsion. Quite sure they werent impressed with the big white yeti hovering over above them! So we got about 45mins to just roam around and have a goosey. I let off a massive burp on the way back to the boat so theres probably a flock of whales on their way to the caribbean looking for a mate. Not sure whales move in flocks...going bhaaaa :S Katie said she heard a strange wobbly noise and she was about 50 ft away. So its boosted my confidence to go and get my PADI certificate, just need to find the money now :)
Yesterday we'd been down to morne rouge bay (spelling?) which has a gorgeous beach. Another afternoon just lying in the sun! its so hard! Oh, if u order a coke here, u get a 1/2litre bottle! how cool is that! But thats a bit of a random progression to the story.
Thats ur lot for now, so bye for now
Hey everyone, i know i put an entry up last night, but been snorkelling today, and its awesome!! Was quite apprehensive about it all coz not a big fan of sitting in the middle of a big dark expanse. Went along with katie and karren for some morral support , they seemed a bit on edge as well. Is such a wierd moment, sitting on the edge of the boat just willing urself to lunge into the water, so we all jumped together. They took us a way round into the next bay past st. georges and then about 100 metres from the shoreline. Looked like it was going to be good coz there was quite a rocky edge and then a beach. But once looking under the waves its totally different. really took me by surprise coz i wasnt expecting to see anything. Was really hard to get some perspective of the depth, but it looked pretty deep, but could see all the way to the bottom no problem. So we started swimming off to the shoreline where the coral was supposed to be. At first i was totally hyperventilating, not being used to breathing through the tube, so naturally i ended up draining the sea of a few gallons of salt water and replacing it with the contents of my lungs
