Has been a hectic week! Lots going on. I cant actually remember it all but will try my best. Certainly lots of photos to upload.

So yeah, the rum factory, well all i can tell u is its a factory that makes rum (they wouldnt let us go around it). We did get to sample quite a few of their offerings, some nice, some not so nice

We've been out most nights for dinner, but I seem to be cursed here...let me explain: Went for a meal on the carenage (st. georges city centre next to the port) at The Nutmeg, which I was really looking forward to. I ordered a shrimp starter and a lobster main course only to find neither were available. So I ended up having the less-local dishes of chicken starter and serloin steak and a side order of fries. Everyone started getting their starters and I got given my fries a welcome gap in the sunshine
a welcome gap in the sunshine
. Thinking that was a bit wierd, i obliged and ate them expecting my starter to come as well. About half an hour later it arrived after everyone had finished theirs. No sooner than I started my starter, everyones main courses came! So i guzzled the chicken down ready for my serloin. I asked for it very rare but it was more like beef jerky it was so over cooked. So, a mere 110EC$. Wasnt a happy bunny. A couple of nights ago we went to a very nice bar/restaurant called De Big Fish. Really great atmosphere. The menu was awesome, loads of local dishes. I ended up going for sauteed prawn fajitas which sounded soooo tasty. Lol again it took ages for mine to arrive. Everyone has finished theirs by the time mine came. And then it wasnt that great, just tasted of cheddar cheese :S It was the most expensive thing on the menu...so another 100EC$ down the drain. But that was still a good night.

The weather hasnt been that good over the last week, its either been overcast or raining. I suppose its been a welcome change from the heat. But two days ago the sun came out, and it really hits u full on! So that was a sunning catch-up day, just pure lounging around on the beach :)

Me and Karren (a student from edinburgh) went to see the place that I am going to be staying at later on during the elective everyone and our local friend
everyone and our local friend
. Karren came coz she is currently living in a pretty dodgy area of st. georges, lots of wierd men hanging around, and so shes looking for a new place. I had the impression this next place (in grand anse) wasnt that far from the beach, so i wouldnt need to rent a car again. But lol, it was at the end of the steepest and longest hill ive probably ever been up. Its a lovely cottage, right on the edge of a well looked after golf course, with hills all around, loads of greenery. Its owned by a british psychologist from oxford but who came out here to retire. But she talked and talked for about 2 hours! All the while glugging whiskey from id say a 6 finger measure!!! So me and karren were practically asleep by the time we left, but great place.

But I decided it was too far away from bus routes etc and the beach that I would need the car again. I definitely cant afford that again, so Ive spoken to the mad woman and told her that I wont be able to stay there. Also managed to find a room at the place where all the girls are staying at the moment which is just along from the beach, perfect!

So its been a pretty eventful week, oh and ive done a bit of radiology as well :) I actually got taken over to the other side of the island to go to a private ultrasound clinic. U have to go across all the mountains, where the views are amazing!!! Think we got to 1100ft with views of pretty much all the southern half of the island and sea. Its really easy to see the effect of the hurricane up there as well, lots and lots of trees which dont have any branches or leaves, and plenty houses abandoned and lying in ruins. Its surprising only about 25 grenadan people were killed. About 11 tourist were killed.
