Hey everyone!

Well, its a bit later than i intended, but finally got onto the computer.

Flights were all really good, nothing much to report on that, other than i hate germans!! There were two sat infront of me the whole way, and they insisted on having their seats fully reclined the whole way, even tho he would sit up to eat his food and watch films! Grrr. But i did my fair share of film watchin, saw Hitch, Constantine and Spongebob sqaure pants thingy. The food was awesome! Think the beef lasagna topped it all! Dad, u would have loved the plane, 777, enormous!!!! We stopped in antigua for an hour, but werent allowed to get off the plane which was a bit annoying. But the views coming into land were awesome, and easy to see how a hurricane would wipe out the country coz all the houses are made with corregated iron roof making u jealous??!! hahaha
making u jealous??!! hahaha
. So then it was a quite island hop (in a 777!) over to grenada. Unfortunately it was really cloudy when we got there and the captain announced the humidity was 99%! And boy did it feel like it!

So having eventually got through customs, i got my lift to Lance Aux Epine. It was really hard to get any bearings (and still is) coz the cities arent condensed, but a few houses dotted here and there. So it felt like i was going into the middle of nowhere. My first impression was that it looks like what I would imagine cuba looks likes, not how i imagined grenada. I nearly died on the way to the apartment as the caribs are quite wreckless drivers. My driver decided to overtake on a blind summit, only for a car to come over from the other side! Shit! But he was laughin!

The apartment is really nice, spatious and about 20 metres from the beach and sea. Have AC in my room which is a life saver coz grenada is boiling! Its a nice temperature, but its just the humidity that gets to u. Dad, u would die! Everything is wet from moisture, and nothing dries. I arrived in late afternoon, and then the heavens opened and it pissed it down!!! The moisture comes into the apartment coz there are no windows, just holes with mozzy nets covering them up. Its good tho to let a breeze through part 1 panorama from bar/hut

. So the first day was a bit of a right-off and i was sort of wondering if it was going to be like this all the time. But since then its been glorious sunshine, with the odd shower here and there. I found it quite lonely being on my own for the first few days, but i would say thats the only downside. Had a wander along 'my' beach the next morning and found the calabash hotel at the far end. This is great coz it has a shack on the beach. Its exactly like u would imagine it, juat a simple square wooden shack. The shutters open up to make some shade and then in the middle theres a guy making cocktails, rum punches etc. But by far the most orgasmic experience is a chilled carib beer.....mmmmm. Its like san miguel in the sun, but 10X the feeling.

The sea is really warm and the water crystal clear. I have about 2 or 3 swims in the sea a day, just so nice to cool off. But the sun is lethal here. Burnt my feet to buggery after not puting enough cream on them, but other than that have done ok at staying not burnt.

Its odd how things here are priced, some things are cheap, yet some things are REALLY expensive. Food is horrendously expensive. Eg a yellow pepper will cost about 2 pounds. Lol, i bought a curry sauce, one u would get in tescos and that cost about 5 pounds! part 2 panorama from bar/hut

! Its difficult to 'find' the local quisine. Amy, anna etc agree its been harder than expected to get into the local food. There are loads and loads of fruits/veg that they use in dishes, but they dont exist in the super market. best bet is probably the market, but thats quite far away for me.

I got my car yesterday, a black suzuki jeep, which bakes in the sun, but has AC so is alright. Bit of a scary experience driving in grenada. Very narrow roads, winding everywhere, up and down hills, and maniac carib drivers trying to kill u. I went to see the girls last night. Took me ages to find there place, coz there are NOOOO road signs at all! coz they got blown away in the hurricane. But ive got some bearings now and can get to St.Georges (the capital) quite easily. Their place is about 1/3 the way there. Driving around St.Georges...is...lets say...and experience! I went to the hospital today just so i know where it is, and i think it took me about 30 mins to get back to the waterfront (which is about 100 metres from the hospital) coz the roads are so complicated. And its all spread over a ridge with gradients of about 1/3!

Going to go down to grand anse beach with the girls this afternoon when they get back from the hospital, then go get some food, so will be my first chance the experience some local food. Then tomorrow ill pick them up and get them over my place for some rum. well, lots of rum, theyre gettin a taxi back!!

So start at the hospital on monday, so will put some more online then

cyas soon,

Andrew
