Day 142 - We landed on time at around midnight but then had to queue over and hour and a half to get through immigration. Obviously everyone was tired and impatient but this one german man took the p**s when he and his family blatently queue jumped ahead of myself and a few others behind! Despite being a much more mundane and easy going version of my former self of late, there was no option but to let my feist at him, and I gave him what for (but in a polite way). He simply shrugged and turned around with a cocky smile on his face and I was stood there absolutely tamping with rage! A little later another girl supported me, but as we got nearer the end of the passengers, our queue, which was the slowest, dispersed into the other, faster queues and all his hard work was for nothing! Ha! He still got through ahead of me though, as I was the last person stood waiting, but at least I have my morals! Right at the end, 5 girls travelling separately were leftand we all had a laugh together, which was amazing given the time of night and how long we had been stood there!
Outside a taxi man took me to find a hotel in Kuta and was trying it on from the start and I was aware that we were out of Singapore! He was a but sleazy but also a bit of a joker and it was nice to have someone of high spirits around as I was in a pretty good mood - he also waited as I checked a couple of hotels out, finding them too expensive. I managed to get a room at Fat Yogis but only for the night. It took a while to get sorted as the first room had a balcony that wouldn't lock, and the other available one didn't have a key. So I ended up with the reception copy and a piece of cardboard slotted in the electricity meter! This said, the room was really nice and I got to bed sometime after 3am.
After exhausting myself exploring Singapore and developing the beginnings of a cold, all I wanted to do was get up late and not do anything today. However, as Fat Yogis were fully booked the following night, I had to check out at midday (and made it up a little after that - thankfully nobody noticed!) So I went for a walk about Kuta to find a hotel and it took a while to find a good deal. The streets of Kuta are small lanes, but busy with traffic, meathead surfers walking about (or being absolute hazards on their motorbikes), package tourists donning sunburn and very small clothes and persistent, hassling locals outside the tourist stalls, which lined the alleyways. I'm sure it would be fine if I was more in the mood, but as it was I checked into Sorga Cottages and relaxed on my balcony away from all the mahem!
Later in the day I went to a restaurant and had a very small bowl of noodle soup and then came back to the hotel for a fruit salad to fill me up and try and cure my cold and thus I decided that I would be best leaving Kuta tommorrow and coming back when I'm more up for it before my flight to Sydney.
