Back to Dubai for some duty free shopping, any requests, let me know now!

Spend, Spend, Spend...

12th January, 8.50, Sheritan lobby.

Well we arrived at 6am this morning and are still waiting to check in after a 1.20am flight from Bangkok. For such a well know brand such as the 'Sheritan' I'm surprised at the complete lack of service, (check in is apparently 3pm, what bloody goods that!!).

We haven't been out and about yet, so I cant tell you what the rest of the place is like.

Thursday 13th January, 05

Dubai is an unexpectedly great place. It's definitely a modern up and coming city. We're so glad that we decided to break the trip up on the way home and stop off in Dubai. The shopping prices rival that of New York and may even be cheaper, though there is no where in the world quite like Bloomindales!

There is a strong India meets Arabian meets West influence here. The food is fantastic, Korma for breakfast, Chili Chicken, Matter Paneer for Lunch, Kebab for tea. (I did get rather a strange look when I asked if I could get a Tiger beer with my lunch!) We couldn't eat that way every day though.

They have the biggest waterpark outside of America here, but because Ian still has a plate in his shoulder, we weren't able to pay it a visit. We also tried to book a Helicopter trip around Palm Island, but they only run on Saturdays so we aren't able to do that. The Island is the talk of Dubai at the moment as it was hit by a freak wave yesterday that killed 6 construction workers.

I very nearly brought a 2.17-carat diamond bangle from the Gold section, I knocked the guy down to 847 pounds and intended to go down to 800 pounds. It would have been an absolute steal, but I couldn't bring myself to do it, not after I brought some Jewry in Bangkok. Next time perhaps! We've already decided that Dubai is definitely worth another trip. They have all kinds of Gems and setting from all over the world, I guess you could say that Dubai is the Jewry center of the world or that's what I've been told.

Tomorrow its either 'Camel Racing', or more shopping or we may go and watch the horse racing, which is meant to have the best horses in the world, which belong to the king of Dubai. We have to make the last day of our holiday exciting!

Friday 14th January, 9am.

We're off to see the beach and Palm Island today. The last couple of days have not been so hot, around 25C and cloudy, but looking at the clear blue skies this morning, I think we're in for a 'hot one'. A last chance to top up our tans before heading home into the floods, cant wait :-(

Maybe able to fit in one last shopping trip, but not sure. But there always airport duty free shopping to look forward too, so its not all dome and gloom!
