After stocking up on supplies, we took a four hour drive to Kings Canyon. We set up camp in Kings Canyon resort and then went for a swimming in their lovely outdoor swimming pool. We watched the sunset on Kings Canyon from a viewing platform. It was a lovely panoramic view of the canyon. Kings Canyon is a mighty chasm, set in Watarrka National Park, which is also where the western end of George Gill range sits. It took 400 million years for the canyon to form and it's now over 400 metres tall.
There were lots of dingoes hanging around the campsite. An aussie family, who were camping next to us (and in bivvy bags!) had left their coolbox and food out and the dingoes just wouldn't leave them alone, eventually one ran off with their lamp! I don't think they realised that you should keep all food locked in the car. Mike told them that dingoes can open coolboxes and they then quickly put everything away!
