After we checked out of the campsite, we drove down to beachfront in Noosa and enjoyed watching the surfers in the beautiful sunshine. The surf looked so inviting but we were on a tight schedule and had to get moving if we wanted to get to the zoo and then to Brisbane.
So, back on the road, we continued our journey south. We stopped of at Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. We spent most of the afternoon here looking at all of the animals. We saw kangaroos, echidnas, venomous snakes, otters, crocodiles, wallabies, koalas, birds, lizards, komodo dragons, tasmanian devils, camels, elephants, wombats and kookaburras. The zoo was originally opened by Steve Irwins parents and as a child Steve helped out with the animals. He inherited his parents strong passion for wildlife and when he was older he took over the management of the zoo, with his wife Terri. Unlike other zoos, this zoo looks after the animals and protects endangered species. The animals welfare is their main priorty and I noticed that the animals were not cooped up in cages but had plenty of space to live in. The kangaroos were in a large open grassy area and we were able to walk in and pet them. You could also feed them if you purchased the correct food. Kangaroos are usually to wild to get close too so it was great to get so close to them!
After the zoo, we continued our drive down to Brisbane. We arrived at a campsite, south of Brisbane at about 19:30. We finally made it to Brisbane!
