Set off at 07:30 for a boat trip, back on the river Abobral. We saw more caiman, kingfishers, monkeys, toucans, macaws and jabiru (giant red throated storks, which are the symbol of the Pantanal). I was expecting to see more wildlife but it was relaxing floating down the river with the sun beating down. We were offered the opportunity to swim but Mike and I were not brave enough to enter the alligator ridden waters. We watched a couple of the others courageously dive in!
When we got back, we went for a swim and sunbathe and then back to the room for an afternoon nap, which is becoming a bit of ritual now!
At 15:30, Trudie took us horse riding. I nervously pulled myself up on my horse wondering how I was going to have the courage to move. I just didn't feel secure and thought I'd fall off if I moved! With apprehension, I slowly moved along, following the other horses. After about 30 minutes, I had relaxed and began to really enjoy the ride. I picked up speed and soon I was kicking my heels in the horse's ribs to make it gallop! We rode through the countryside and forest and made our way back as the sun was setting - it was beautiful. I have come away with the horse riding bug and can't wait to try it again!
