Bedraggled, with puffy eyes, we arrived at the Foz bus terminal at 09:30. Despite the comfort of the bus, I hardly got any sleep the whole journey - it was bumpy and my head kept rolling around and I just got more and more frustrated. As soon as we checked in to our hotel we crashed for the whole afternoon! Woke up hungry and so headed out to find somewhere to eat. We stopped first at a beer garden and shared a large cerveja (beer) and then tried to find a restaurant, which the rough guides book recommended. After we walked a few blocks we found it but it was shut, so we went back to the pub. Mike had steak and I had pizza and it was delicious but way too much food - the portions are huge! The beer garden was rammed and we soon realised that this looked like the place to be as many other restaurants we passed were a lot quieter.
Foz is a holiday resort and after escaping the polluted city of Sao Paulo, you can really smell the sweet scent of summer - so refreshing! You also don't see the poverty that exists in the cities.
