It's easy to forget what day it is when you're on holiday but I didn't forget it was Valentine's day! With a 16 hour bus journey looming, we didn't really have much opportunity to celebrate Valentine's day but we both woke up to a romantic card.
Packing my backpack the second time round was trickier, even though I still had the exact same amount of stuff - maybe it's because Mike, the experienced traveler, helped me the first time round by squashing everything down.
Caught the bus to Foz at 18:00. I've never seen such a comfortable bus! Wide, cushioned seats that recline into almost beds. I certainly don't mind spending 16 hours on this!
On route, we passed a favela, which are also known as shanty towns, where the poor live. No more than tiny, wooden shacks, most without windows. If you've seen the film, 'City of God' then you'll know what I mean.
