Hi everyone,
It is getting ridiculously cold already, an apparent 6 DAYS earlier than last year...thats right people, yesterday it snowed. Today was sunny like last week was, but thats beside the point. I have caught a glimpse of the horror of the next 3 months and have decided to prepare. Today I bought another futon. (Japanese bed) is YELLOW and if I can I want to ship it home...anyone know of any good shipping companies from Japan to NZ? Hmmm..
Well I was just in French, (hilarious as usual) and the highlight of the class this time was not the boy sitting across from me trying to pronounce the word *vrai* but in fact it was the girl at the end of the room trying to say *six oclock.* I was writing ideas for a story for Andys manga, which has proved itself the best thing to do during French. ANyway, I am sitting there scribbling about ninjas and monsters, and suddenly I hear, *Did you eat her?* and I am like WHOA WHAT THE HECK...I look over with this mortified face and stare at this cute little Japanese girl, who repeats, *did you eat her*. I was so confused. *Why is she asking this?* I thought.*Eat who?* I started to panic a bit as I thought about what had to be happening inside my head. It was only when the teacher repeated her sentence *A dix-huit heure* that I realized she was not in fact a cannibal.
Ah the joys of language. While we are on this topic, I spent like half an hour yesterday attempting to read the instructions for some of the Brazilian delicousness. Who knew it was so easy to entertain Andy. I am SURE my Portuguese is getting better, but its near impossible to pronounce just from reading it. Well at least we are having fun right?
ANyway I am writing this entry the next morning from the last bit....I bought my futon yesterday and last night I slept like a baby, so fantastic. Anyway, I woke up this morning to find that it was POURING with rain. I got ready, did my hair (pointless I know) got on my bike with my umbrella and set off to school. I knew I was probably going to be late, but I thought it wouldnt matter too much as I havent been late this semester yet (a miracle.) Anyway, I was soaking and freezing by the time I got to school, and as I headed upstairs collapsing my umbrella, I saw two familiar figures at the end of the was the FRENCH. Together we deliberated about going to class, if it was worth being late, or if it was better to go get a hot drink from the conveni and check our email....yes, you all know what we did. Sakubun (essay writing) class holds ultimate status as the most boring Japanese class on earth. On top of that, it is taught by Yamazaki sensei, who is...well, lets not go there. The French dressed up as him for halloween....
So here I am, apparently I got out of bed for this, and my thighs might be permanently affected by frostbite no less. I would just go home, but I have to go to work in a couple of hours, and before that I amm going to purchase myself some brand spanking new gloves...probably a few pairs. Its the rain that kills you, I am sure.
Last night trying to help Andy with her mountain of homework was both disturbing and amusing. Disturbing because it was up there with the level of boringness that is so evident in any of Yamazakis classes, and amusing because both of us kept making stupid jokes to keep from falling asleep. Most of mine came from what I could remember of the kids page of the TV Guide in New Zealand. Quite funny...late at night.
Anyway I will write more later.
