Things here in Hirosaki are great. Andy is off to Brazil tonight so I will be all on my lonesome for the next couple of weeks. Michael came back from America yesterday (we think) so I am glad. Yesterday I bought a present for him in a store we randomly discovered on the way to our house, I have to find him though so I can give it to him.
Our internet isnt working at the moment (oh the joy of wireless) so I am here in the community centre tea room place early before I teach English here in half an hour. I like this job.
Last week we had a competition in one of my classes at a local college and the prize was that I would buy icecream for the winner. The girls won and I took them both for icecream at Baskin Robbins (here called 31), and we took Purikura. It was really fun, those girls are cool.
Alex left last week. It was so sad, it was the first time I cried for someone leaving. Alex is the coolest French girl on the WORLD. We miss her alot, but I am definitely going to France to chill with the Frenchies again.
I have to write about a new experience I had the other day called LATIN AEROBICS. Yes. It is every bit as freakish as it sounds. Maribel said afterwards that her country (Honduras) is not responsible for anything to do with that class.
Firstly, I joined the gym recently. This was necessary due to me beginning to think I would be better off swimming home with the rest of the whales than paying for two seats on the plane. Anyway, I decided to go and just run, and Andy and Maribel went to this class. I thought, "there is no way I am going in there".ü@éh walked past a few times, and could see all this weird shimmying stuff goin on and weird pelvic movements, and I laughed to myself and thought, hahahahahaha how hilarious, they are never going to live this down. Afterwards, they confirmed to me that it was indeed as bad as it had looked to me. Despite this, the next day Andy decided that she wanted to do it again, because she had messed up a bit and wanted to do it better. (Whats with that?) Maribel hadnt come so she asked me to go with her. First I laughed and was like yeah whatever, not in this lifetime. Suddenly I was in the room and it was starting. I dont know what happened. Dammit Andy! Anyway Maribel then arrived, who is about a thousand times a better dancer than either of us, and I just looked at Andy and said KOROSU which means I am going to kill you. This room is filled with middle aged to old Japanese women and the instructor is speaking Japanese...it was so funny I almost died right there, except I didnt because someone probably would have stepped on me while shimmying madly. The most hilarious part was this: there is this one move where you have to do some cha chas forward whilst waving your hands around, do some weird steps backwards (think dinosaur) and...Im not really sure how to describe it but think running your hands over your head and down the sides of your body. This would be weird in any situation, but when you are all nasty and sweaty and red, and so is everyone else around you, and you feel like a total knob, just at this point, the instructor yells out "SEXY"! (sounds in Japanese like SHEKUSHEE)
I almost collapsed. The other thing is that I can never take anything seriously anyway so for the whole class I was inventing new and strange moves that were cracking up the Japanese women behind me, not to mention Andy and Maribel. I wanted to make sound effects but in Japan you just cant do some things.
We went to Maribels the other day for dinner, it was so delicious and now I love Honduran food. She gave me the recipe for tortillas so I will have a go at making them soon too.
Saturday night our Japanese friends invited us for dinner, and htey made nabe. They are Tomoyuki and Tomohide, who are known as just "the Tomos" so we went to Tomohides house and ate it. It had fish and mushrooms and carrots, lettuce, a fish paste thing and some other stuff. Nabe just means "pot of boiled stuff."
Write again soon, got to go
