Okay. I am in Shinjuku, as you could probably tell from my title. This place is crazy! Right now it`s quite cold, and this keyboard is weird. But I like it. I got lost in Shinjuku Station this morning...see, I am not going to lie, besides, it is more interesting for me to tell you the whole truth. Anyways, I rode a bike to the station to get on the train to Shinjuku, but let me start at the beginning...
Where were we? Oh yes...Sunday after church (by the way I met this lady from the Ivory Coast who didnt speak English or Japanese that well, and would you believe we had a great conversation in French. Apparently my French isnt that bad after all...!) John Dil (family friend) came to pick me up and we caught like 5 trains -with all my stuff- to where he lives. I am now staying with his landlords family. (Agh Im going crazy I cant find the apostrophe on this thing!!) He just lives in West Tokyo but this is no small place...anyways theyre great. Im going to put pictures on here as soon as I can.
Last night I ate Japanese Curry and rice at their house, and didnt understand one thing that was going on. But I slept on a futon!!! So awesome. I woke up this morning and was like rock on, I slept on a futon! I think futon=genki in the morning.
So this morning after breakfast I sat staring blankly at my Japanese phrasebook, on the couch. No Japanese jumped into my head, I:m sorry to say. However, soon after, I engaged in conversation with my host dad, Kurogawa-san. In Japanese! Now, Im not saying my Japanese is anything to shake a stick at, if you had a stick, but I told him about my Dads business as an infertility specialist...WHOA, I know, thats what I thought. How cool is that? (Yes, he did understand...thanks for the vote of confidence...)Plus, today I have spoken to about 10 people for different reasons here in Shinjuku, and Im sure that I didnt act mentally retarded in front of more than 6 of them. Lets forget about the other 4, shall we? Righto. Anyways, I have to go buy shampoo before I get lost on the way home, plus I have to remember the way I biked this morning and actually recognise the house when I get there. Ill keep you posted.
hope everythings going well for everyone and that you dont miss me too much.
