Right. So here I am, my last week staying with this awesome family in São Paulo. So cool! This week it's Joana's birthday and I will probably try and concoct something for the occasion, last week I attempted rice pudding, and I may or may not have put slightly too much rice into the milk, making it ever so slightly crusty. I will not do so again. I have to follow the recipe....
Ok well last week we went to a soccer game, São Paulo against a team from Paraguay. SO AWESOME! I want to go to games all the time. It was awesome, loud, exciting, hilarious at many points (SP shot like 20 times before they got a goal and everyone was freaking out.)Seriously, so cool. As soon as I get an income I am going again. Speaking of which, I am joining the legions who have gone before me and starting a business of my own. Thoughts? I'm making a tour business where students from South America (Brazil, at this point) go to NZ to study English and tour NZ, doing exciting things like surfing, climbing mountains, fishing, waterfall jumpling, luging and zorbing, to name but a few. Currently I am organizing the itinerary, but we will see how it goes. I expect it to be big, eventually.
Well lets see. The soccer game was awesome. We parked ages away and walked (followed the red and white crowd, really) to the stadium, which wasnt all that full but was still pretty full. We waited about 45 minutes for it to start (we had great seats) and ate some weird popcorn which I didnt love but ate alot of anyway. My favourite popcorn is the red one we ate at Embou, which looked like it was covered with blood and was totally awesome.
ANyway, the soccer players played really badly, it was like a joke, so everyone was going crazy and I was cracking up, it was awesome. Like, the one guy kicked the ball at one of the players from his own team who was walking away from him, so it hit him in the back of the leg and just bounced away. So funny. Then the Paraguayan team kept getting hurt, every four minutes one would be lying on the ground, and the golf cart had to come get quite a few of them. The thing is, nothing really bad ever happened, they were just wussy.
Try playing rugby. Anyway, we shot SO MANY TIMES and everyone was freaking out because nothing had gone in, but like less than a minute before the end of the game, we scored. Ironically I only just caught it because I was busy rolling my eyes. Ahahaha well I totally loved it and I will for sure go again.
We also went to the zoo, it was great! There were tons of animals I had never seen before, plus I saw SNAKES!! I was so happy. I think snakes are cool. (I just dont like bugs, and spiders, which Joana informs me in no uncertain terms, canno be put under the umbrella of the term "bugs." Ah well, it's all the same to me.
We saw tons of cute things we wanted to take home, I for sure want a monkey, but I think I will have to move much further north. I'm fairly sure I need to take a trip to Thailand soon. Oh and camels, we saw camels. I am definitely riding those in Egypt even though they slightly freak me out because I read that their teeth are so dirty if they bite you you can get infected. I just know I would be one of the few people a camel would bite. I mean, a crow landed on my head.
So it was cool, and we got a big photo of us taken at the entry which my Brazilian mum bought for me and now I can the parrots were so loud...the name for them here is ARARA because thats kind of the sound they make, except it's like more loud and shrill.
Well I have to say, it's been fantastic being in Brazil so far. And I'm pretty sure it's only going to get better. But possibly much more awkward as I am going to Andy's on SAturday and I'm fairly certain she is going to actually make me speak Portuguese. Woe is me...
