Bill: We have made it to Roma and it is great. The train ride to Rome was not so great though. Actually the whole day getting to Rome was a bit of a right off. First we got out of bed an hour after we planned to, crap but not the end of the world. So we worked out that the bus we had to catch to Selerno (train station) was going past at 8.55. This was cool, we made it to the bus stop well before this and so we could just wait and it would be all good, you would think. Unfortunetly the bus had to come around a blind corner just before the stop and we just happened to looking down at something else when the bus came flying past. It didn't even slow down, the bastard. Beck jumped up and down but to no avail, he was going to fast. What the hell do we do know. It was decided to wait for the next bus to come past which would be in the next hour but we didn't have much choice. After waiting for about 30 min Chris the guy who runs the hostel we were staying at came past and said 'here follow me' and we went to a different bus stop that would have a bus coming past sooner. The bus ride to Selerno was on a very winding road and I had had a few too many beers and shots of Jager the night before, so it wasn't a whole lot of fun for me. We made it to Selerno where they have trains going to Rome. Things got a little crazy from here. First it took beck about an hour to get the tickets. The main reason for this was that people just kept on pushing in. It's just the way they do things around here I guess. After the tickets were sorted the train was delayed for at least an hour, so we got on a different train. This train was packet to the rafters when we got on. The train stopped about three times on the way to Rome and each time it picked up more people. It was nuts. I had to stand the whole time and the trip took almost four hours. So we arrived in Rome at 6pm. The whole day gone pretty much. Damn train. It hasn't been all bad though. The hostel we are staying at now, the Casa Olmata is very nice and has provided the best breakfast so far on the trip. It is also in a great location.
Today we had a full day to check out some of the many sites in Rome. First we took the metro down to the Vatican city. Apparently every Wednesday the Pope has his service which we didn't know about. So the main plazza was full of people. We got to see the Pope though. Kind of exciting. Then we walked along the Tiber and back towards the Colosseum. Along the way we saw the Pantheon, the Trevi fountains and a few other nice old buildings. Then we went into the Colosseum and did the audio guide tour thing. It did feel a lot smaller then what I was expecting but amazing none the less. One other great thing about this city is the Gelati, we have had it twice today and it is so good. Cool, well hope everything is well back home. C ya.
