Day 3 continued Got the family out and about. Walked through the mall. Was hoping to get a Cinnabun, but at 9am they still weren't open. We went on to the Alamo. It was interesting, but they wouldn't let us take pictures inside...I don't know why. Jose was impressed with the cactus garden there. He told the kids stories about what they used to do with cacti when he was a kid. Then, we went over to take our river tour cruise. It was very pretty and the tour was informative. Kids took lots of pix. Next we were off to the Buckhorn Museum. The Buckhorn Museum is full of taxadermied animals from all over the world, lots of Texas memoribilia , and a Texas ranger museum with lots of guns. The boys really enjoyed that part. Again, lots of pix taken. Had lunch there in they're old time saloon. It was inexpensive and tasty. We walked some of the riverwalk to get back to the hotel...because our feet were sore, we were tired....and I needed to go potty. Christian chose to go to the mall instead. We enjoyed the break. I must say that we are all surprised about the attitude of the folks here. There is no southern hospitality, everybody acts like you are bothering them by being here. I guess we're just used to the wonderful guest services provided in Orlando. After Christian got back from the mall, we went back to walk the Riverwalk. It was shady and cool. We went to the art and craftsman village of La Villita . It was a cute grouping of older buildings along the Riverwalk, where it was way over priced. Jose and Bethany bought a few Mexican inspired objects, but we didn't go overboard. I'm figuring EL Paso and Albuquerque will be cheaper for such things. We then went to Pat Obrien's (because I had a certificate). It was a little difficult to find, but we did find it. We weren't really hungry, but thirsty. I and Jose ordered their special 'Hurricane drink'. He thought that it was really strong, I didn't.....what's that say. Anyhow, we ordered appetizers for all of us. The boys had hot wings, and I had coconut shrimp, Bethany had chicken finger (as always). All was plenty, and good. The bill including drinks came to $21! We were happy. The kids thought we were drunk. We came back to the room for some a/c and rest. Jose really enjoys the high def flat screen tv. Christian went to work out/ talk on the phone privately with the girlfriend. Bethany is coloring sketches she has made so far on the trip- very good to. I sit here blogging. Hopefully I can get all the great pix included. It's 6pm here, not sure what the rest of the night will bring.....I let you know tomorrow. I miss my dog.
