Hello everyone! Or, xin jao (sin chow)! I'm in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam! It's strange being in a big city again after lovely, quiet Laos. There are more people just in this one city than there are in the whole of Laos! Someone told me today that there are 8 million people in Hanoi - and 4 million scooters! There are scooters EVERYWHERE - it's really hard to cross the road here because there are so many!

We arrived here last night after 30 hours on a bus! It was not a very comfortable ride at all - and there were cockroaches on the bus, ewwwwwww! Today we had a very busy day exploring the city because we're only staying for one day, so we tried to see as much as we could.

This morning we went to the Ho Chi Minh museum, which was very interesting. Ho Chi Minh was the president in Vietnam in the 1950s and 1960s, and is a very important and popular person here even now. They love him so much they named a city after him in the south of the country! At the museum we learned that he was very smart - he spoke Vietnamese, French, English, Italian and probably more languages, and he travelled all over the world learning about politics. He did this because he wanted to make Vietnam a peaceful country.

We also saw a very old flag tower, a huge lake which is lit up at night, lots of statues, a beautiful temple called the Temple of Literature, and a traditional puppet show! It is very late and I am very tired so I'll have to tell you more about Vietnam when I've had some sleep! Tomorrow we're going on a boat for three days in Halong Bay, so I'll take lots of pictures on the boat for you.

Talk to you soon!
