I'm not really sure what I've been up to since the last time I've updated. I know I've been running around like crazy, though! Let's see ... Last Friday I finished up my second term paper and then Webster took us to what was supposed to be a pantomime of Cinderella. They messed up, and somehow we ended up at an interpretive Cinderella ... not the same! After we figured out what we were seeing, it wasn't too bad. Needless to say we were quite disappointed because the pantomime was supposed to be funny and involve cross-dressing!
Last Saturday we went to the Tower of London. We had a nice tour by a beefeater and then we saw the CROWN JEWELS! I think one of the crowns had a 300 karat diamond on it ... a girl could get used to that kind of bling (hint, hint)!
We made the stupid mistake of trying to go to Harrod's afterward. Tourist trap on a Saturday evening = bad idea! We'll never learn!
Monday we a got an email that said anything we are shipping to Geneva has to be received by next Friday. It doesn't sound like that big of a deal, except that to send that much stuff at a reasonable cost, it means that it had to be sent out by Wednesday or Thursday. So, the beginning of the week has been spent packing as much as possible and trying to figure out how to get the rest home! Now I basically have a few clothes, my books to study, and my computer.
Wednesday night we went to a talk about Human Right at Westminster Abbey. It was bizarre to have someone talking about people needing education, living in terrible conditions, etc when you're sitting in such an extravagant place! Nonetheless it was nice to get to see the Abbey again ... and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Yesterday, Erin and I went to see a matinee of Billy Elliot (that makes 9 shows in 7 weeks!). It is edging out Joseph for my favorite show in London. It's amazing that little kids are so talented! Last night we met w/ the Deputy Ambassador to London. He told us all about that State Department and the role of the Embassy in London ... good stuff to know.
From here on out I'm studying for finals (those of you who went to school w/ me know that this will consist of 40% me studying and 60% me whining about studying). This time it may be more like 40% me studying, 20% me whining about studying, and 40% being really, Really, REALLY excited about going home!!!!!!!!!! I leave London next Wednesday morning (5 days) and will be home Wednesday night!
I can't wait to see those of you who will be in the St. Louis area! SEE you soon!
