Yes, Hurricane Rita did change my plans for leaving Houston. I had planned to leave the Sunday of the 25th, but as panic levels in the city began to rise on Wednesday I realized that I needed to get the heck out of Dodge, as they say. I quickly bought a ticket to St. Louis to stay with the Scullys. I was right, because the day after I left they closed the airports. The best moment had to be when we arrived at Bush and saw the lines snaking around the entire building and heard that the line to check a bag was 5-6 hours long, and the security line was another 1-2 hours. Since I had 4 hours until my flight left, the choice was clear. I unzipped all of my bags and started the triage process. It was classic really: my parents and me standing in the airport with my bags all around us and me shouting "ok people, what here is ESSENTIAL?" then throwing clothes at my mom. I was quite a stressed out little evacuee:)

The Hurricane
I really enjoyed spending that night at your house. It was fun (as always), and it definitely gave us a head start on the way out. I better keep reading!
