Oh my heavens!  This is what all the fuss was about!  I knew Italy was beautiful but this was something else!  Around every corner we drove the view was more and more magnificent.  I was absolutely blown away by the scenery.  Every little house on a hill or restaurant perched around a corner with the flowers growing everywhere.  Sigh.  So amazing.  I wanted to stop at each one and walk around.  And the weather; couldn't ask for more perfect.  Sunny with a little breeze and not too hot or humid.
Our first stop was in Sorrento and this town is extra charming!  First of all they grow lemons the size of your head!!  At first I couldn't make out what they were!  Awesome!

The road was the windiest road I have ever been on!  The drive into Amalfi at one point was 22 kms. away but it took over an hour with all of the bends and extreme twists around corners.  At one point we had to yield to another truck but at the last second a small flatbed truck squeezed himself though between us and the other vehicle!  All of this taking place along a very steep road also.
I am happy to say I chose a right hand seat close to the front to maximize the view and avoid any carsickness.

We did make a stop at a ceramic shop and I perused the items.  Had I had more room and no fear of smashing it I would've bought a gorgeous pasta bowl I saw there.

Onto Amalfi where we had a visit in the cathedral there which houses portions of St. Andrews skull and leg bones brought to the church from Turkey after he was crucified.
The church was gorgeous with beautiful copper doors, the Cloister of Paradise inside and a lovely Byzantine mosaic on the ceiling.  It was very peaceful in there.
Even though our tour was in Spanish our guide gave us some helpful info on the town and we ate at a restaurant where we had a huge pizza each to ourselves, some sorbetti and a drink for around $12 Euros.
I loved the little town.  Bought a nice scarf there.  Bought some stamps and a postcard in Sorrento which I mailed in Amalfi.  I was rather pleased with myself; it's not that easy to find them anymore.

Another beautiful day enjoying that Mediterranean sunshine!  Slurp!
