Today, Thursday, was our cooking class adventure.  We walked to the Casa Crespo and met Oscar, the chef and proprietor of the restaurant.
The place itself is incredible; lots of charm and vintage pieces of furniture.  Oscar greeted us and welcomed two other "students", Jesse and Steven from New Zealand.  A father and son visiting Mexico and we had a coffee to start off our morning.
We discussed what things we'd like to make. Unfortunately, Steven doesn't like mole so we skipped that and instead came up with a menu.  We then walked to the local market to pick up some ingredients.
We ended up making the following:
tortillas with refried bean paste and four types of salsas including one with agave worms.  It's cool dude, last night I ate fried insects, bring it on.
The next course was ceviche with whitefish.  Then shrimp soup.  Then our main which was stuffed poblano peppers; Chilles Rellenos.  Delicious.
We also made a drink; prickly pear juice.  For dessert we took a flyer; avocado ice cream. Not my first choice but really tasty and rich.  We had a cerveza on the upper patio section of the restaurant.  Oscar has a gorgeous view of the Church and it was a fabulous sunny day.
We were able to make the dishes with Oscar's help and a lot of prep work and clean up by his assistant.  Totally worth the money to have this experience and he sends you the recipes also.

After our class we were stuffed so we headed back to our hotel and had a swim.  We prepared for dinner.  Tonight we ate at Biznaga which I would strongly recommend.  It's very chill in there and has an awesome outdoor area to sit in.  The margaritas are yummy as are the dishes. We even had dessert which was lovely and some coffes and the bill was under $60.
There were some silly North American girls there discussing foods they hadn't eaten.  Steve saw one of them taking a picture at the table and offered to include everyone in the shot.  "Not right now but thanks" she said in her so valley girl accent.  Alright, well don't come crying back to me when you want a group shot biattch.
Anyway, suffice it to say we had another excellent night in Mexico.  Went back to our room for some mescal and off we went to sleep.
Tomorrow, we return to the D.F.
