Day Two:

Started off in the Financial District as it was our plan to see the Statue of Liberty and the Ground Zero site. I couldn't stress enough that I wanted to see the site but if there were still a lot of letters and photos it would be overwhelming for me so I didn't want to dwell there. Also, for the kids sake I didn't want it to be too morbid so we walked around the area, debated whether to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and finally visited the site. The current plans for re-building include ponds (reflecting pools) and seem very nice but apparently they've already been downgraded due to costs. Either way it was a sad reminder that the last time we were in New York City we waited for our shuttle to Newark near the base of the Twin Towers.

We had a nice lunch at Oliva Deli and then proceeded to the Staten Island ferry where we were able to see Lady Liberty Financial District
Financial District
. It's true that she isn't as tall as you would expect but I'm guessing to the thousands of immigrants coming over she probably seemed quite large; both figuratively and literally.

That night we ordered in Indian food which was yummo and we were all pretty exhausted. You see my shopping frenzy had begun and that day alone I purchased a dress, pants, a top, a pair of shoes and five items of clothing for the young'uns at Daffy's. It had only just begun!! Then we went to Century 21 and purchased two shirts for the husband and two more tops for me and a raincoat...and sneakers for one of the young'uns...and on and on it goes.

There was also a jaunt into Borders and a stop at Dean and Delucca and the kids bought IHeartNY tees and it was warm and life was our oyster and dammit, we knew it!
