Where I stayed
I really wanted to see Lake Michigan on my way back. It's the only Great Lake that I have yet to put my feet in so after a hearty breakfast, I headed to the Ohio Turnpike. It's a toll highway and you get a slip of paper when you get on and it lists the distances and prices. I kept on it til just over the Indiana border then I headed north into Michigan. My toll was $6.75 which I paid when I exited the turnpike.
Made my way to Kalamazoo...and yes, I picked it cause it had a great name...Kalamazoo. I can't even say it seriously, I feel the need to say it like a circus ring leader would...KAL-A-MAZOOOOO!!
I found another interesting hotel which was clean...enough and a decent price. The hotels downtown were pretty expensive and I was just soo sick of paying so much for hotels. I had lots of time to wander through the downtown core. Most of it looks quite new and tidy, there were some fun looking restaurants and nice parks and green spaces. There was a lot of traffic but very few people on the streets, mostly street people. I guess if you weren't driving somewhere, you were working. I did go into a gift shop (surprise) and had a good chat with a few people in there.
Ended up locating some dinner then just had a quite night. Wanted to be up early to head to Lake Michigan!
