Orciatico is a small village situated in the Tuscany. Why did we reach this marvellous village? Well, we were looking for a professor to suggest us some research we could make to improve our academic CV. At last, we found two nice professors who were prepared to help us.
The study was about a magmatic body and we had to make a geological cartography and study the characteristics and geodynamics of it.
At the beginning, Orciatico was a small village and nothing else. As time goes by, it became our little town, because we had to make a lot of trips to study the area.
Also, the trips by bus were so funny... We had to get up at 3am to arrive on time to the bus station to take the bus to "Pontedera". Secondly, we took another bus to go to "La Sterza". During the trip to "La Sterza", we had to say to the bus driver that he had to call to the bus driver going to Orciatico to wait for us in "La Sterza". Thirdly, we got off the bus in "La Sterza" and had to run to take the bus going to Orciatico. Finally, we arrived there at 8am in the morning and had all day long to work very hard.
People were not very talkative, but we could see lots of animals as deers or hares running in the grassland or in the forest.
Also, we lived there during a week to take the chance to work during some days in a row. That was very good to relax a bit as well, due to the peace of the place.
At last, we could make good use of the research we made as it was useful to be the main topic in a subject and the complement in others. Moreover, we used it to publish an abstract in the general EGU meeting 2008.
