March 21:

On our train from Milan to Zurich, we sat next to a sports advertiser who lives in the burb's outside of Zurich. He talked about everything under the Switzerland sun (much like the other swiss couple--must be a swiss thing)…he was great company and definitely easy on the eyes so who could complain.

We finally arrive in Zurich late at night, walk to our hotel where we must climb 4 flights of stairs to a room that has a bathroom the size of Catholic Confessional, which made the idea of a shower go straight out the tiny window. However, the bed did come with a down comforter and it was the cheapest find in Zurich (expensive place!) so no complaints on this end… We then went on a hunt for food, sat down at a recommended restaurant that served great fondue, but since bridget doesn't like cheese and the only thing on the menu that didn't include dairy was the side salad, we decided to not dine and dash to the local fast food chinese joint (Panda Express but better) and chowed down… Who would have thought that quality chow mien and white rice would be found in Switzerland?

March 22:

We woke up relatively early so that we could tour the downtown area and then catch our train to Interlaken. So glad we did because the Zurich in the day time is leaps and bounds more beautiful than Zurich after sunset. The streets with their shuttered windows and peaked roofs looked like they were created from a Disney movie. We walked around with our dropped jaws dragging on the pristine sidewalks for about two hours, walking in to starbucks to see a hot tea cost 5.80 CHF (aka about 7 american dollars--this was a tall mind you) and then hopping on our FREE train to interlaken… Thank goodness our eurorail passes saved us on that one because we would have been forced to forgo dinner in order to afford a train ticket… hungry sisters=cat scratches…crisis happily avoided
