Ho Chi Min the trail to the city of lights
Entry 11 of 20 | show all | print this entry |
So we decided last minute to get a flight to saigon rather than take the train. I think we chose wisely too, b/c we talked to a couple that took the train and said it was 35 hours of hell. Well Saigon is a lot different than Hanoi, larger in size and population it's not a crammed together, and it's far more advanced in urban development and life. Which isn't all great since you don't get as many hand made, and family establishments like Hanoi. It is a lot more attractive aesthetically and the population is very young most people are around 18-23 it seems like. Right now it's raining which makes the temperature bearable this evening. When we left Hanoi it was 12 degrees Celsius which is the coldest it's been on our entire trip. Our Visa runs out tomorrow so we are going to Phnoem Phen in cambodia by bus. We aren't sure what our exact plans are for the future, but we're going to try to go to Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia (in that order), there's a train that goes to Singapore from bangkok which could be nice. Well, tomorrow we'll go to the Vietnam war museum which is supposed to be pretty graphic, other than that we spent a lot of time sleeping today. The good thing about being on the 5th floor it's very quite. Well the food is great here, thit bo tet steaks, clams, pho bo (beef noodle soup), and strawberry shakes. Hope everyone is getting there winter fun in.
