So I finally get to see a whole winter for the first time since I got the traveling bug in 2006.   Might as well take advantage as much as I can.  Hence the frequent use of indoor computers, the irish pub that plays american football, the jazz club that had a chicago blues band the son of the late great Luther Allison, Bernard.  Hearing songs about growing up in the west side, and some classic blues rifts was a great way to ease into the hot culture stew one toe at a time.  So after 4 days of indoor self quarantine, finally caved to the chicago sicknesses from no sleep and international travel.  So I decided I needed to actually see stuff and do things while I'm here.  So after the wellness stint I did what any savvy traveler does, follow the teenagers caring skis.  they were all heading up to the highest peak (hill) in the Black forest to rapidly descend on lowered resistance surfaces of crystalline hydrogen and oxygen molecules.
So from Raeanns apt where I'm staying in Freiburg I have to walk exactly one quarter of a block to the tram then switch to the ICE train (fitting name)  then the free bus to the ski resort in Feldberg.  Maybe Colorado can learn a thing or two about getting to mountain by public trans.
The hill was a good warm up ride before I try to kill myself in the Alps next week.  The snow was pretty dece. but gorgeous blue bird day made up for it. two days later now, and I'm still in recovery mode from all the snowboarding muscles that haven't been used in a long time.  The Air India
snowboards fly for free program really paid off, in that I didn't have to pay anything to bring my own gear.

Today another Alaska connection comes in town, Yoshua my token mexican jew friend (everyone needs one especially one bringing a snowboard).  Met him back in the Alaska Fisheries Observer days.  Anyway should be a good traveling partner, we're heading to Amsterdam in a few weeks to visit my old CSU Roomie Audrey and check out all the Dam culture.  OK enough words here are some 2-dimensional images of me when I was younger, but not much younger.

Way to rock the Jane sticker on you piece of trash helmet. I saw Allison's berNards in Winter Park a few years ago...he had double rattlesnake heads on a cowboy hat! I wish I was black and could play the blues, but alas. People say things like 'alas' in Europe, right? Drink up buddy
