After an absolutely crazy/stupid wake up time of 0300 we were at the Airport in Vientiane ready for our flight, although it doesn't seem they are using the gorgeous new terminal yet and we had to walk over to the old one, nice and rickety! probably could be classed as a Unesco site itself as a french relic.
The first leg of the flight had us doing a quick transit stop in Pakse where we cleared immigration and reboarded for the leg to Cambodia, we had a bit of a chat to the Captain before take off as well, top bloke!
We arrived safely in Siem Reap about 40 minutes early (I don't think Lao Airlines still deserve the bad rep they've got) and fortunately we had gotten our visas before we left home as all of the pre packaged tourists didn't and the queue for visa on arrival was stupidly big!
The airport at Siem Reap is huge and flashy! We had our bags and were through customs in all of 5 minutes, this airport and the road to the flashy hotels definately seems to have been set up for the fly in fly out tourist.
After a short cab ride to the City we found out the Guesthouse we wanted to stay at was Full, so they put us in a joint up the road where we had a quick sleep before coming back to the golden temple villa and organising a Tuk Tuk to see Angkor wat tommorrow.
Ended up heading out for a buffet dinner show in the evening which involved a ride on the back of one of the locals scooters to get there, riding up on the kerb and against traffic included :D Great Fun!
