Nothing to new or exciting to report this time. We've started working 30 hour weeks teaching at Citibank, Prudential, Bank Boston now bought by Standard Bank, and Ten Roses (a programming company). We teach 40 year old business men and women English. We have private and group classes. We had our first pay day!!!!!!!!!!! That was exciting. Although it wasn't a big pay day we still got money. :)

The weather is starting to get cooler here as their fall is setting in. The leaves are turning colors (not like in Chicago though) and starting to fall off the trees. We hear that the snow is treating everyone real well in Chicago!

On Good Friday there was a Passion Walk in El Centro that we caught the tail end of after we got back from church. They walked from the Congress building to the main square carrying the cross and then had an reenactment of the death of Jesus. It was interesting. (We have pictures but I forgot the camera so next update we'll have pictures of the Passion Walk along with other pictures!) We had one of Dan's private students, Carlos, over for dinner on Easter Sunday. We just had hamburgers and a salad.... I missed the ham and potato casseroles and rolls and all the yummy Easter treats, especially black jelly beans on Easter!!!

On the Monday after Easter there were some LARGE riots. The whole city shut down from 12-2 PM. There were no buses, subways, or banks open or running. It was a workers union riot because the previous day teachers were on strike demanding for a higher pay and the police shot tear gas off into the crowd. It hit a teacher square in the face killing him instantly. The riot was for the teacher and also to make the chief police officer step down who allowed the tear gas to be shot off. Dan witnessed more of it that I did, I was teaching at the time, but he said it was pretty intense. He watched fireworks be set off, he watched people graffiti the Cathedral, the Government Building, statues... all of which has been painted over now. It was our first real Latin American riot!! From what I saw it was intense!

We are currently in the process of planning either a trip to Uruguay or getting our passports re stamped within the city, but our 90 tourist visa is up on the 24th and we need renew the visa. Although, if we don't we are not deported and when we do end up leaving we will only have to pay $50 pesos each. So right now not renewing the visa is looking like the cheapest option, but if we ever want to go to Uruguay we will have to pay it then, so we'll most likely have some pictures from Uruguay soon!

Enjoy your snow and we'll enjoy our last few days of warm weather!!!

Love always,

Dan and Sarah :)
