As we are spending the next two weeks at Disney World, I am not going to try to detail each day. Rather, I will provide a summary of the highlights of our stay. So, our first week was spent at Saratoga Springs - a very large and pretty, resort, based on the resort spas that used to exist in the 30's in the Saratoga region in the North East part of the U.S. While the resort was beautiful, very well equipped and maintained, it was also huge. Our room was located in the furthest corner of the resort, a 10+ minute walk from reception, 5 minutes from the buses and 10 minutes or so from other important facilities, like somewhere to buy milk. While it doesn't sound much, the last thing you want to do after a long day in the parks is yet another walk.
We had an absolutely outstanding meals at Victoria and Alberts. We were in the Victoria Room, with two other couples, and were presented with the 10 course fixed menu. While Deborah was content to drink just the one glass of champagne, I went with the wine pairing - a glass of wine selected by the chef to specifically match each course. The food was delicious, the courses smallish, and we both managed to get through just about everything except the hand made chocolates that finished the meal. These were boxed up for us to take home. A wonderful night.
We met Brad, Michelle, Patrick and Caitlin the day after they moved into Port Orleans - Riverside. They had experienced a few delays on their flight over to Orlando, and ended up coming through L.A. rather than direct to Dallas, so they had had a fairly trying (and exhausting) trip.

We moved over to the Wilderness Lodge for the second week - this was as gorgeous as ever. It always looks spectacular for Christmas, with the massive Christmas tree soaring up inside the six story lobby. I just can't imagine how they decorate something like that. We had a most entertaining meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe - Patrick ordered a coke. It arrived (as they all do at whispering canyon) in a jar. The waitress noticed that Patrick had got through his coke pretty quickly, so when his refill arrived, it was in a huge 48oz. jar. Pat took this as a challenge, and managed to force down the entire contents. The waitress then provided a third refill, in a tiny jar, stating as she put it down that she thought that he might want a little more.
Then we attended Mickey's Magical Christmas Party. Michelle had spotted a desert buffet and fireworks viewing on the tomorrowland Terrace while planning for the holiday and so we had the chance to pig out on deserts for an hour and watch the Christmas Fireworks go off over the castle from an excellent viewing position. We had an excellent meal at Narcoosee's restaurant, even though we were 45 minutes late for it due to monorail maintenance. We also had a very entertaining evening over at Port Orleans Riverside, where we watched Yeehaw Bob, doing a very entertaining, almost vaudeville show that involved enormous audience participation.
It was with heavy heart that we checked out of the Wilderness Lodge on the 15th of December.
