Today we walked down to the 5th avenue NBA store to buy Graeme his Knicks jacket. Then we continued down to Central Park, where we had an excellent brunch, followed by a traditional carriage ride through Central Park. We walked back up to the hotel through the craziness that is Times Square. After a brief rest, we headed off again, this time downtown to the 'Highline Park' - a public park that has been built on the raised freight rail line that runs through the meat-packing district. This was an outstanding use of an area that would otherwise have simply been demolished. The park itself is very long and narrow, but is planted with native grasses and small trees. It is quite peaceful, and a far better option than walking at street level. After that, we went back to the hotel to take advantage of their free drinks and snacks and to get ready for Rock of Ages. While the theatre was smaller than The Comedy in Melbourne, the crowd was pretty fired up - this is probably due to the jello shots that were being consumed in considerable numbers. We had outstanding seats - third row, dead centre. We enjoyed the show hugely, the whole thing was every bit as good as the Melbourne performance. We stopped off for supper at a coffee shop. An excellent day.
