We were woken up by the ship increasing speed at about 6:30 in the morning. By the time we were up and about, we were docked at Disney Cruise Line's private island - Castaway Cay. (previously known as Gorda Cay until its purchase by the Disney Company). We had breakfast at the Enchanted Garden Restaurant – decorated in a sort of English Country Garden, Alice in Wonderland type theme. It was a very tasty breakfast buffet. We disembarked the ship in time to make it to Ray’s Stingray Adventure that was booked for 11. They provided us with a mask, snorkel and flotation vest. We were able to feed the stingrays by hand and then swim with them. Quite an experience. We wandered around the island, having lunch on-shore, and then rented a small paddle-boat for half an hour. Then it was back to the boat, having written a number of postcards, exercised and eaten well. When we got back on board, we rode the aquaduck twice. The aquaduck is a water slide type ride where you sit in little two person boats and ride a tube down and around the boat from deck 13 to deck 11. Initially it swings out over the ocean – some 45 metres below. Very good fun. We went and played BINGO!!! And didn’t win. As today was Pirate Day on the ship, many people were dressed in pirate outfits – some most elaborate. To celebrate Pirate Day, the cast put on 'Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean show on decks 11 & 12. After this, Deborah had had enough and decided to stay in the room while I went to watch Taylor Mason the ventriloquist and comedian. He was outstanding. Then it was time for tea – a special pirate menu in the Artists Palette. With the same wait staff and table companions as the previous night, there was much animated discussion, and once again we were one of the last passenger groups to leave the restaurant. It was time to head back up to deck 11 to watch the Buccaneer Blast Fireworks. Disney is currently the only cruise line with permits to launch fireworks at sea. Impressive.
