We have been goofing around Malaysia looking for
the the perfect beach for the last few weeks. Leoado Dicaprio I ain't
but I know a good beach when I see one and we have seen some fantastic
beaches and some rubbish ones that shouldn't be mentioned in the
lonely planet guide, especially as there is nothing lonely about a
beach that you can't find a place to sit amongst the jet skies, boats
, and locals trying to sell you junk. But we have also found beaches
that have blown us away where we have been almost by ourselves .
We have stayed in some great beach huts and some grotty hovels
along the way, we even stayed in a 4 star hotel.
It was the only place that has had breakfast
included so we tried to put them out of business with the amount we
could eat, but only succeeded in making ourselves sick so we had to
stay in the room most of the day to let the breakfast go down. But we
did get free soap and toilet roll for the next two weeks proof that we
now are true backpackers.
We spend most time on Langkawi, the island has very nice beaches and
cheap beers, our beach front chalet had a cold fridge what else do you need?
No points for guessing that we spend most days here on the beach with a hangover.
We lived next door to a very nice man from Liechtenstein and his son. So
many late nights spend drinking beer and sharing traveling stories,
and proof that we are real backpackers.
Kuala Lumpa was great too it's like the poor relation of Singapore but
still has some nice touches and great food. We did the usual tourist
bits like going up the patroness towers and a roller Coaster in a Hugh
shopping centre.
We are going back down to Singapore now to catch a flight to china, we
need to brake open the thermals as its going to be about -5, at least
it will feel like Christmas, the only place that feels like December
here are the buses, bit like human freezer boxes on wheels. but it did find
a Christmas cake and some mince pie to take to china with us for Christmas day.
