This is it, the last stop before we get back to the UK. We arrived on the 12th (our anniversary) from San Francisco on a fairly bad flight (no meals, no drinks, no choice of films etc. on a 5 hour flight!), so top tip - don't fly on American Airlines unless you have to.

We were therefore starving on arrival - so at least we had come to the right place as every meal in New York seems to be enough to feed you for a week. We had little time for much more than checking in then heading out to what is apparetly the oldest Pizza restaurant in Manhattan, which was excellent and true to form was far too much to eat. Not hungry any more.

Next day we planned to get up early, go up the Empire State building, walk around central park, then head shopping before lunchtime. As with any well laid plans that is obviously not what happened, so getting up at 10.30 meant that the tourist stuff was thrown out and we went straight out for a large (surprise surprise) breakfast then headed to the shops. After battering the hell out of the credit card for 4 hours we decided that even the extra luggage purchased was full enough, and so went for a well earned cheesecake and a beer. In the words of our waiter, the cheesecake portions were not so big, so we had one each.....should have known better!

We did manage to find a good place to eat that night, without it being necessary to completely stuff our faces, being the Oyster Bar inside Grand Central Station, which was great to see itself.

Our final day was spent finally getting round to some touristy stuff, so we headed up the Empire State building, and caught the Statemn Island ferry to catch sight of the Statue of Liberty, all before one final pig out, this time being huge sandwiches at the famous Katz Deli (as featured in When Harry met Sally - no we didn't have what she had).

Then it was off to the airport in the evening for our flight to London!
